Turn any voice-over or talking-head clip into animated, perfectly timed captions without leaving After Effects.

AE Captions transcribes speech right on your computer and builds the captions as native AE layers: real text layers with keyframes, no third-party effects. Tweak anything afterwards, just like your own animation.

What you get

• 10 animation styles: Highlight, Karaoke, Word box, Bounce, Punch, Rise, Pop, Static, Stacked, Block

• Word-level timing, synced to the voice

• 43 languages + auto-detect, including Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese and Thai

• Fix the transcript before you create, and pick key words to emphasize

• Full control over the look: font, colours, size, position, outline, box

• Live preview right in the panel

Private by design

Transcription runs 100% on your machine, and your footage is never uploaded. The speech model (~830 MB) downloads once on first use.

Requirements

• After Effects 2022 or newer

• macOS 11+ on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer)

• About 1 GB of free disk space

Windows version coming soon. Intel Macs are not supported.

How to install

1. Get the free ZXP Installer: aescripts.com/learn/zxp-installer

2. Drag the AE Captions .zxp file into it.

3. Restart After Effects and open Window › Extensions › AE Captions.

4. Paste your license key and press Activate. You'll find the key on your purchase page and in the receipt email.

Personal license for up to 2 computers.
